E-learning in Punjab

Published October 24, 2016

THE Punjab government will initiate ‘E-Learn Punjab programme’. This is a step in the right direction.

Our education system is in dismal condition as not a single Pakistani university is included in the list of top 700 universities of the world. Reasons are obvious. We are relying upon old and obsolete resources to compete in today’s IT-intensive world.

A ‘net-worked’ teacher is better placed to ensure that students better understand what they are taught. Tablet computers with software developed by the Punjab Information Technology Board will be distributed among teachers of eight public schools as a pilot project.

As a pilot project, initially these tablets would be distributed among eight selected schools in the first phase. Traditional blackboards will be replaced by LED screens and IT gadgets.

I request the authorities to ensure that short-, medium- and long-term strategies are drawn up to excel in world.
