LAHORE: Players from Wapda demonstrated excellent performance for their country at the third South Asian Karate Championship, recently concluded in New Delhi.

Pakistan secured second spot in the men’s championship while fourth in the women’s category.

All the Pakistan medals were won by players from Wapda, said a spokesman on Thursday.

In the men’s individual events Pakistan won two gold, three silver and two bronze medals while in the men’s team events they claimed two silver.

Pakistan grabbed one gold, three silver and four bronze in the women’s individual events. In the women’s team events, the country pocketed one silver and one bronze.

Meanwhile, karate officials from Wapda participated in the referees and coaches course organised by the Asian Karate Federation in New Delhi.

Uzma Asghar and Khalid Noor successfully completed the referee course while Babar Iqbal featured in the coaching course.

The Wapda Sports Board congratulated its players and officials for their excellent performance in the championship.
