When you get them built in Karachi then you should also get know how and technology to build such vessels by yourself in the future. We saw french build Agosta submarines in Karachi too but I doubt that we have got any know to build them by ourselves now.

@Akash I agree but India spends a whole lot more and and has numerous such ships. Its progressing and I hope it can be used for good purposes.

Karachi shipyard was launched in the fifties. Sixty years later we still need others to help us build a small 17000 ton vessel.

@Ali ( Kashmir, Pakistan) Sir from your comment it seems you do not have much knowledge about naval vessels. What is built in karachi is not a ship to fight. This is an ordinary supply tanker designed normally to supply fuel to two warships at a time. This ship cannot prevent enemy vessels in case of war. Anyway you have all the reason to feel proud. Congratulations.

India has 40t ships as comparison. India also has nuclear submarines and longer range missiles. Pakistan must develop nuclear submarines as soon as possible, the diesel subs from China are great but not suited for underwater deterrence in the long run. Also, Pakistan must get out from the self imposed 2750 km missile range. It is not doing us any good.

I read there was a collaboration going between Turkish and Pakistani firms about 4 new state of the art hospitals in rural Punjab, 2 in Sindh and 1 in Baluchistan. KP can take care of itself i guess, so when is PM launching that event??? And the alarm went off!

Wouldn't it be nice if India and Pakistan were on friendly terms like Europe? Maybe even create a joint armed force that would allow each country to improve its own infrastructure and provide a better life for its people? Only Kashmir is stopping that from happening....resolve Kashmir and watch how the two brothers improve there relationship. India really need to sit down and work out terms with Pakistan - Pakistan need to do the same. Occupied Kashmir needs to be divided proportionately according to religious majorities. It was done in 1947 so no reason why not now. Good luck to two great nations really hope that they can clear up their misunderstandings.

@Akash Mr. Akash, while sitting in India your info on Pakistan is totally incorrect. In India definitely majority is below poverty line, but not in Pakistan. In Pakistan, 45% are below poverty line which means majority is above poverty line.

Fleet tanker is a prelude to a regional navy. Pakistan is progressing strongly and too fast for its adversaries.

KARACHI: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday launched a 17,000-tonne heavy Pakistan Navy Warship fleet tanker, at the Karachi Shipyard. The fleet tanker was built in collaboration with Turkish firm Savunma Teknologiler Muhendisilik (STM). The design of the fleet tanker was prepared by Turkey and executed in the Karachi Shipyard. The prime minister, who is in the metropolis for a series of meetings today, expressed hope that Pakistan would continue to collaborate with the Turkish government and businesses to build more ships at the Karachi Shipyard. The premier congratulated the Ministry of Defence Production, the Pakistan Navy, STM, and the Karachi Shipyard for completing the project ahead of time. PM Nawaz said the fleet tanker would be remembered as a symbol of 'time-tested' Pakistan-Turkey friendship.

@Akash I can read jealousy and hatred in your statement. India is also having more than 50% of its population living under poverty line still it is having the largest military spending in the world. And the poor population of India is suffering.

How about a home grown aircraft-carrier!

It is unfortunate that after being the first ship building Industry in the area in 1950's, we have gone back to the roots and now learning the lost skill from Turkey!

@iqbal akhund Initially Karachi Shipyard was repairing facility only. It started designing and building ships since late sixties. It is the first tanker ship manufactured in collaboration with Turkey.
