LAHORE: Ambassador of Brazil Claudio Raja Gabaglia Lins has called for increasing the volume of trade between Brazil and Pakistan.

“Trade volume between Brazil and Pakistan is meagre though both countries have several commonalities and good diplomatic relations,” said the ambassador at a ceremony held here on Monday to formally appoint Lalpir Power Ltd Chairman Mian Hasan Mansha the Honorary Consul General of Brazil in Lahore.

Mr Lins lauded Mr Hasan Mansha’s role for the business community and looked forward to strengthening trade and economic relations between the two countries, besides promoting social and cultural activities.

Thanking the ambassador, Mr Hasan highlighted the vast opportunities of commerce, cultural exchange and mutual cooperation between both countries.

Mr Hasan committed to further strengthen the relations between Pakistan and Brazil in his new role.

Earlier, the national flags of both countries were raised to signify the strong ties of friendship between both nations.

The head office of Nishat Power Ltd has been declared the office of the newly-appointed consul general.
