CHARSADDA: Awami National Party-Wali (ANP-W) President Begum Nasim Wali Khan has called for giving maximum share to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project.

She was speaking at a meeting held in Wali Bagh here on Sunday. Leaders of newly-formed Corridor Front (a conglomerate of various political parties and civil society groups) attended the meeting.

Begum Wali said that the route of CPEC project must pass through Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, otherwise it would lead to anarchy in the country. She said other components of CPEC like gas, electricity and economic zones should also be provided to the province.

The veteran nationalist said it was responsibility of those who had raised the slogan of new Pakistan to fight for the rights of the province. She lamented that these forces had ‘failed’ to protect KP rights and confined themselves to slogans. “Issues cannot be resolved by raising hollow slogans,” she maintained.

Speaking on the occasion, Corridor Front convener Dr Said Alam Mehsud was of the view that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s plan about the CPEC project would lead to destruction. He believed that the existing plan of the corridor project would not facilitate people of KP, Fata, Sindh and Balochistan, as it was aimed at only changing the destiny of the people of Lahore and Punjab.

Mr Mehsud announced that the Corridor Front would launch a protest movement after Eidul Fitr to ensure due rights to KP in the CPEC project.
