KARACHI: Holders Iran 1 carved out 3-2 victory over India in the final to retain the title in the fourth Asian Team Event snooker championship in Abu Dhabi on Thursday.

According to the results made available here, Iran 1 fought courageously to win 53-65, 54-7, 77-1, 64-69, 74-40.

Amir Sarkhosh lost the first frame to Aditya Mehta 53-65 but Soheil Vahedi drew level while getting the better of 6-Reds champion Pankaj Advani 54-7.

The pair of Amir and Soheil surged Iran 1 to 2-1 up defeating the duo of Pankaj and Aditya 77-1 only to be level two-all when Amir fell prey to Pankaj 64-69 in the next frame. Finally Soheil clinched the fifth and decisive frame 54-7 against Aditya to steer his team to retain the team title.
