KARACHI: Amid claims and counter-claims about a notice issued from the office of the District Registrar of City Courts, Karachi, officials said on Tuesday that Dr Asim Hussain’s properties had not yet been ‘placed under caution’ as was claimed earlier by various media houses.

They, however, said everything was being taken care of keeping the legal side in view.

They said that the district registrar had asked sub-registrars concerned to look into a letter written by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) asking the provincial government to ‘place under caution’ properties of Dr Asim Hussain in a graft case against him.

In its letter issued by the office of the district registrar titled ‘notice for placing caution on properties in case’ ... (Dr Asim Hussain and others), the district registrar asked senior authorities to go through contents of the two letters sent by NAB and then send a report.

“You are directed to go through the contents of the above letter(s) and send your report direct to the authority concerned immediately under intimation to this office,” the letter said.

The letter was sent to the Commissioner of Karachi Division, Inspector General of Registration, Sindh, Hyderabad, Additional Deputy Commissioner-II, Karachi South, the staff officer of senior member, Board of Revenue, Sindh, and NAB authorities concerned.

Officials in the provincial government said that so far Dr Asim Hussain’s properties in Karachi South and Korangi districts had not been seized or put under caution, but the process was under way keeping legal perspectives in view.

They said the process was under way by departments concerned and the action would be taken under the law.
