ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is leaving for London on Wednesday for medical check-up, the PM Office announced on Monday.

A statement issued by the PM office late in the evening said Mr Sharif had deferred his check-up a number of times because of his pressing engagements.

The prime minister’s two sons, Hassan and Hussain, are already out of the country, and whether Maryam Nawaz Sharif will join him in the trip will become clear on Tuesday, said a senior official of the PM Office.

He said: “Formal travel arrangements of the prime minister will be made on Tuesday (today). Only then it will be known who else from the family is joining him.”

Hassan is already abroad while, according to television channels, Hussain left Lahore for Dubai on Monday.

In the aftermath of the Panama Papers, sudden announcement of PM’s travel plan has set off speculation in the capital about the circumstances behind his scheduled departure for London.
