According to data from the US Department of Defense, the military repelled more than 30m attempted cyberattacks from September 2014 to June 2015. Of the malicious attacks that were not stopped, fewer than 0.1pc compromised systems in any way. As the nation has faced more sophisticated cyberattacks in recent years, American officials have made improving security in the public and private sectors a top priority.
