QUETTA: A police officer was gunned down in Pishin and a barber lost his life in Chagai while resisting robbers on Saturday, police said.

Assistant Sub-Inspector Ali Ahmed was on duty at a checkpost when men on a motorcycle opened fire at him.

The officer was taken to hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.

In Chagai, two men entered a barber’s shop and asked Intizar Hussain, the barber, to hand over cash and mobile phone. Intizar offered resistance and was shot dead by the robbers who decamped with the loot.

The Levies took Intizar’s body to his native town in Punjab and registered a case after taking some suspects into custody.
