KARACHI: Pakistan and Royal Bahrain Navies have concluded the bilateral naval exercise "Shaheen Al Jazeera" which was aimed at enhancing their skills to counter maritime terrorism and all the other threats faced at sea.

"Shaheen Al Jazeera" is a series of special forces exercise that has been regularly conducted since 1997 between Special Services Group-Navy (SSG-N) and the Bahrain Navy special forces at Karachi and Manama during alternate years.

During the exercise the special forces of the two countries demonstrated various operations related to maritime counter terrorism and interdiction operations of Maritime Special Warfare (MSW) teams successfully.

A spokesman for the Pakistan Navy Commodore Nadeem Bokhari said in a statement issued from naval headquarters in Islamabad that the exercise culminated with the display of coordinated special forces operations at sea which included boarding procedures through surface and air platforms.

The final event of the exercise was witnessed by commanders of the special operation forces of Royal Bahrain and the Pakistan Navy.

Both commanders appreciated the professional conduct and skills displayed by the participating teams.

The commanders highlighted that the exercise "Shaheen Al Jazeera" has provided beneficial enhancing and inter-operability between the two navies and their special operations forces.
