QUETTA: Nawabzada Jamil Akbar Bugti, a son of late Nawab Akbar Bugti, has requested the Anti-Terrorism Court to order exhumation of the body of his father to confirm that the body buried in Dera Bugti was that of his father.

An application filed by Mr Jamil Bugti on Wednesday was accepted for hearing by the ATC which fixed Dec 30 for hearing.

Nawab Bugti was killed in a military operation on Aug 26, 2006, in Tartani area of Kohlu district.

Mr Jamil Bugti also requested the court to order the DNA test of the body by a panel of international forensic experts. He said that no member of his family had been present at the time of the burial of his father in Dera Bugti.

In another application, Mr Jamil Bugti requested the court to summon members of a parliamentary committee, who had visited Dera Bugti on March 17, 2005, and met Nawab Bugti and record their statements about killing of his father.

The members of the committee included Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain, Mushahid Hussain Syed, Sherry Rehman, Sardar Yaqoob Kahn Nasir, Mir Hazar Khan Bijarani and some senior TV anchors and journalists.
