The court ruled that all the sentences would run concurrently.

Ex-KDA official jailed for five years

An anti-corruption court sentenced a former official of the defunct Karachi Development Authority to five years in prison in an 18-year-old case.

Mumtaz-ul-Haq, the then assistant director of the KDA, was found guilty of fraudulently accumulating moveable/immoveable properties during his employment which were incompatible with his known legitimate source of income.

An inquiry was initiated in 1995 and two years later a case was registered against the accused under Section 5-C of the Prevention of Corruption Act-II 1974 at the Anti-Corruption Establishment.

The accused was on bail and following the pronouncement of the verdict was taken into custody and sent to prison to serve out his sentence.
