PIA offers free transportation of relief goods

RAWALPINDI: In view of the devastating earthquake that shook the country on Monday, Pakistan International Airline (PIA) has offered free transportation of relief goods from domestic and international destinations if the federal government and the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) demand it.

A spokesperson for the national flag carrier said that PIA employees were with the people affected by the earthquake.

He said: “Pakistan International Airlines is ready to provide assistance, if necessary for the people of earthquake affected areas.”

The decision to this effect was taken at a meeting held at the PIA’s head office. Presided over by PIA Chairman Nasser N.S. Jaffer, the meeting assessed the situation and discussed the possibility of establishing collection points for relief goods and their transportation.

are there airports close-enough to all the affected areas? or are PIA commercial aircrafts expecting to land with the supplies in the midst of rubble, or natural fields?

PIA may be the best airlines of the world but one must admit that it has always stepped forward in such situations. Be it Libya, Yemen or Pakistan, no other airline but PIA comes forward to help or rescue Pakistani people
