PTI probing issue of transferred votes from NA-122: Imran Khan

LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan congratulated party workers and activists on Wednesday for displaying conviction and passion in the NA-122 by-polls, and said PTI had created a cell to investigate the issue of ‘transferred and missing votes’ from the constituency, whose findings will be presented to a “free and fair election commission.”
“For now we will remain tight lipped, but as soon as our probe is complete, we will take action accordingly.”
Addressing party workers and activists in Garhi Shahu, Imran slammed the ruling PML-N for what he called were “pre-poll intimidatory tactics and rigging.”
He said nowhere in the world was an incumbent prime minister allowed to take part in an election campaign. “Sitting ministers – for railways and BISP – were also involved in campaigns in the constituency,” he said.
“I am the chairman of a party and I have the right to share my manifesto,” said the PTI chief, in an implicit remark after a court order had earlier banned him from campaigning in the by-poll.
Imran Khan also challenged PML-N’s claim that no rigging had taken place in the 2013 election, labeling Ayaz Sadiq’s victory as vindication.
“By that logic, Shaoib Siddiqui’s victory in the PP-147 by-poll means there was rigging in the 2013 election,” said the PTI chief.
Imran Khan also congratulated Aleem Khan, his party’s candidate from NA-122, for giving PML-N a run for its money.
“Just imagine, the party chairman (Imran Khan) lost in 2013 with a margin of 8,500 votes but Aleem Khan loses barely by 2,500 votes. Does this mean Aleem Khan has more votes than Imran Khan?”
“It means the 2013 polls were massively rigged,” claimed the PTI chairman.
The PTI chief was flanked by Aleem Khan, Jahangir Tareen and other senior party members during the address.
No pre-poll rigging in by-polls: Nisar
Earlier in the day, addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said there was “no question of pre-poll rigging” in the recently held by-elections in Lahore, Radio Pakistan reported.
Nisar urged Imran Khan and the PTI to accept election results with an open heart and to stay away from “creating tension,” keeping national interests in mind.
“Imran Khan is levelling baseless allegations about registration and transfer of voters from NA-122 Lahore,” said the minister, advising the PTI chief to refrain from bringing disrepute to national institutions.
Nisar said a vote is transferred from one constituency to another only through an application in which the voter is required to attach a copy of his identity card.

IK makes sense! How on earth can two ministers and PN do campaign while the time is over. The best startegy is to keep them under pressure do that they would feel suffocated and won't be able to plunder the national wealth that easily. I think IK has held the bull by its horns .

IK - We are proud of you ! Democracy is not in "election", democracy is in "Free & Fair Election". I have lived in U.S. for the past 8 years and nobody here cannot even imagine about rigging the elections. We need to fix our electoral process.

@Muhammed Ali .what has this man done in kpk for us .nothing.its better to have a corrupt like shahbaz sharif who atleast has done something better than khattak .has created jobs.doing some projects on electricity also cares for the farmers and has a bigger budget for education not like KPK which promised education and started a failed project under the name of tamerr with the help of NGOs.

@abdullah for your very kind information KPK government workig better then any other government ever worked, they have better Policing, better education, better hospital facilities, patwari system gone, better traffic police, quick response team, making more electricity then any other province, utilizing budget on people, Devolution of power with baldiati Election. All that already happened in KPK what they have done so far these Noon or PEE haven't done in the last 30 years.

I am from Bahawalpur . During elections of 2013, PMLn transferred the votes of the residents of doctor colony out of the city without informing them because PMLn knew that doctors are highly opposed to them and will never vote for them.i think PLMn has employed the same tactic in NA 122 too.

If there is any upset seen in the result of this by-election, it only proves the fact that, no local government can succeed without the release of fund from the Federal Government which is PML(N). And, this is a clear advance indicator for LG Polls.

I believe if same number of seats are allocated to KPK like in Punjab, Khan sb will never do agitation. He will rather focus on KPK to secure seats and do more developments. But unfortunately Punjab bags higher seats and winning in Punjab can assure P.M ship, Mr Khan's all focus is on Punjab. we were fooled again!! A massive let down for KPK people. We thought Imran Khan is not power Hungary and will do some development, but no his only concern is in Punjab.

@Khattak: The record shows that PTI has not won a single NA by election after its dharna. The result of Okara is right in front of everyone and the recent polls in Haripur was another lesson for IK. I am afraid that PTI will soon meet the fate of Tehreek e Istiqlal of Air Asghar Khan. He must spend his energies to reorganize his party so that PML-N feels its weight in the next elections. People f KPK, like me, have started distancing themselves from PTI now because of the obvious people and reasons very well known to IK who has turned a blind eye to these.

Will IK now demand resignation of Gen Raheel since this election was held under army supervision and PTI lost it. Now out of four one wicket is back with PMLN.

Can anyone make IK undertsand that politics is not only about campaign, election day and victory. It has more to do with reaching out to those who will (or won't) vote for you, understand their issues, make changes wherever you can both at micro and macro level. I think-to make IK understand- people should make appeal to Reham; probably she can convey if their relationship is good. Otherwise we are in for another PML N government from 2018.

Please don't feel bad as IK is the only leader at this point. Others are just politicians!. As a PTI supporter, I see that IK has a valid point. PMLN is in habit of cheating, if votes were transferred to engineer a win , this must be exposed. The issue is not just one seat but rather the next election. If PMLN is allowed to get away with this alleged cheat then what is the guarantee that they will not steal the next election? We need this cleared.

Instead of single-mindedly expending all his time and energy on the campaign against rigging in elections, IK should also devote some attention on corruption and governance issues and their debilitating effect on the plight of the common man. There are many important points which could have been vigorously agitated by any people-friendly political party in the parliament. But it seems there are no political parties in Pakistan, including PTI, which hold the cause of the unfortunate people dear to it.
Some time back, NADRA had identified 3.5 million people who could be brought into the tax net on the basis of their income, bank accounts, foreign travels, arms licences, property / car ownership, retail businesses etc. The government deliberately sits over the report as many of its members would become potential tax payers. PTI is also keeping mum since its own members may not support the move.
Why not take this to parliament, IK ?

People keep posting here that IK has exposed rigging, woken up the masses etc.
Yes, he has highlighted rigging - but people knew that already, so it was nothing new.
I am not saying that the public's attitude towards rigging is correct, I am merely pointing out what the ground reality is.
The main thing PTI has done without a doubt is establish itself as the 2nd biggest political party in Pakistan - and that must be acknowledged and congratulated.
What they need to do is build on that country-wide and focus on 2018.
Instead, they have now decided to make it a personal battle between IK and NS.
This is not a healthy situation - and will only lead to eternal chaos in Pakistan and our enemies will take advantage of this.
The clearest example of this was the APS attack during the dharna last year.
My real fear now is the violence that'll be unleashed across the country as soon as the Taliban sense any political weakness centrally.
Can Pakistan afford another APS attack?

Now i feel real sad for this madness. What does IK really want?
Surely he knows that he can never be PM before the next election (that too if some disaster happens in Pakistani politics)
He also knows that third umpire is no more interested.
He has a pramount fear that PML N is performing, or atleast trying/claiming to perform.
His own party has serious internal rifts.
What a rational person can not comprehend is why is not he picking up his best opertunity i.e. KPK government and sorting it out?
Instead he has surrounded himself with the evergreen status qou class and is repeating a lame argument over and over. He needs to understand even his own people are not interested in throwing NS out, but are in desprate need of some hope that PTI can get back to the promissing party it once was (before all this dhandli started) and has something show before next election in KPK.

@abdullah I can't and don't intend to change your mind. But if you know what democracy is than you should know that a " fair and free" election is essential for any democracy to work. PML, PPP, JUI etc have been at it for last 30 years and they have honed in on the expertise of how to rig an election, so if you are someone like IK, who knows a thing or two about western democracy and want to improve thing in our part of the world than you need to keep talking about it, even though it makes everybody nauseated, but you should keep complaining and try to improve the standards until people are ready to listen and understand.

I desperately want that our leaders be honest, not corrupt and focus on REAL issues rather than high visibility projects which may also have some financial benefit for them.
The real issues are providing security, easily accessible and affordable health care, education, clean drinking water, uninterrupted supply of power, gas and water. Mega projects just for show such as the metro bus, the laptop distribution, yellow cab, sasti roti just doesn't cut it

I cannot believe the idiots defending Nawaz League on the NA 122 result on this blog.
How's it possible that PP 147 & 148 (the two provincial seats) that cover the entire NA 122 seat have been won by PTI, yet PTI still loses the NA 122 twice in a row???
It's clear that these ECP members - identified as incompetent in the JC Report - were committed to bringing back Ayaz Sadiq as NA speaker.

Here's another allegation. PTI conspired with the Election Commission to move 3,000 PML-N votes out of the PA constituency so that Shaoib Siddiqui could win the PA seat. Now the allegation has been made, the burden of proof is on IK. He is guilty until proven innocent!

Have someone seen Danial Aziz in fact, he is Denial Aziz, I don't know, if his sugar and blood pressure has gone up or just looking for a Ministry, we would request PM to please look into his grievances and make him Minister for Election Commission of Pakistan.
He also deserves this ministry because of his past experience with Musharraf Government, like Marvi Memon, Mr. Hamid and others.

Imran Khan, please keep the pressure on. Getting rid of corrupt politicians is the top priority for Pakistan. We have already waisted about 70 years, we can waste 3-4 more years in cleanig up the electoral system. Once Imran Khan becomes our Prime Minister all other smaller issue will be solved overnight, we can build naya Pakistan in just one day, we have the formula for making new Pakistan in safe hands of our great, visionary leader.

Even though I want IK to accept the defeats but I dont want him to stop complaining about rigging. That is the only way we might have Free and Fair Election in our Lifetime. Problem is with us people, we only think about ourselves, my street gets blocked, my child can't go to school because road is blocked, i cant go to work because of this. We are all so self centered. For once we start thinking about others and our country. Any Leader is as good as you and me. Until we dont fulfill our duties nothing is going to change. atlease dont try stop others who want to change or atleast trying to change. I hate IK for 100 things and like him for 1 thing, but that 1 thing outweighs his 100 bads.

IK and PTI would never accept any results where they have competed and gotten even 40% votes. There would never be an end to the 2013 elections till 2018 elections. All the moaning and whining would continue and elections would never end on the seats they could not win. None of my relatives in KPK who voted for him in last elections still will vote for him in the next. Imran Khan has single minded focus on election rigging (with no verifiable proof to support these allegations). Most of my relatives and friends will instead vote for ANP. I wonder if PTI is paying attention to anyone else in Pakistan except for Imran Khan.

As a fan of Imran Khan, I am sad to see him whine and bicker like this. It takes a big man to win. It takes a bigger man to accept his defeat and congratulate the other candidate. This attitude proves that PTI are sour losers. These elections were held under Rangers and Military supervision. Yet the Khan is still not satisfied and citing rigging allegations. Sorry to say but PTI is looking less and less like the Tabdeeli party and more and more like the Mummi Daddy party.

Spending billions on yelling and creating uncertainty will not change Pakistan. Make public your litigation expenditure. Imgine how many hospitals could have been built out of litigation expenses?Let PTI spell out how it will balance national budget against whopping defence expenditures? What is left for social sectors after payi8ng out defence demands for grants? There is only one lump sum provision for defence expenditure of all the three services? Why not hold everyone accountable across the board.

Besides pre-poll rigging in 2013, the PMLN, in the first place extended 1-hour in polling time to cast bogus votes besides manipulating the votes, deploying Patwaries / other government servants, allocating at least Five polling stations to each of them in every major constituency, where from, they picked up the bags to deliver to the R.O's. On the way, they replaced the same with a few pre-filled bags, out of the excess number of ballot papers issued by R.O's, just to equalize number of Bags, as they wee properly advised in advance that Form-14 would not be placed in the bags. Thus the actual votes were thrown away / destroyed and the replaced ones were delivered to R'O's It's a big conspiracy and needs thorough probe.Just identify two / three such culprits and hand over to Rangers, they will tell all the facts as a litmus test. Unfortunately, JC did not probe on this important aspect of post-poll rigging. Any reliable source in LDA or Revenue Deptt could reveal names of a lot of such persons.
