LAKKI MARWAT: The local education department on Tuesday distributed tablet computers and printers to the teachers of public sector schools to help them to learn computer skills.

District education officer Haziqur Rehman and deputy district education officer Mohammad Sheraz gave the computers to the heads and other teachers of government higher secondary schools at a ceremony at Tajazai.

On the occasion, Mr Rehman said the availability of information technology and communication equipment would improve standard of education in schools. “After having access to the modern teaching means the teachers will be able to face challenges effectively,” he maintained.

The education official said to get computer education was inevitable for teachers and that the tablet computers would help them to improve their skills. He called upon the schools’ principals and teachers to ensure useful utilisation of computers.

FIVE OUTLAWS HELD: The police claimed on Tuesday to have arrested five outlaws during a search and strike operation in the district.

“Led by district police officer Ali Ali Akbar Shah a police team assisted by commodes of Anti-Terror Squad and Elite Force raided hideouts of criminals in different parts and arrested five wanted criminals,” said an official. He identified the outlaws as Ihsanullah, Abdul Rehman, Shah Qiaz, Noor Qiaz and Jilani.

“The arrested outlaws were wanted by police in cases of heinous nature,” he said, adding that police also seized arms and ammunition from them.

The police official said the law enforcers also arrested three persons named Kalimullah, Faridullah and Nek Daraz on charges of misusing loudspeakers and registered cased against them.
