TIMERGARA: Commandant of Dir Task Force Col Nusar Umar Hayat Laleka on Thursday awarded Rs1000,000 prize and deputy commissioner Irfanullah Wazir Rs50,000 to Shah Faisal, a brilliant student and son of a Samosa vender, who topped the Malakand BISE’s Higher Secondary School Certificate annual examination 2015 in computer science group this year by securing 869 marks.

Shah Faisal hails from Chakdara, Lower Dir, and is a son of ‘Samosa’ vendor. Both the officials called the student and his father, Farman Ali, to their offices separately and handed him the cheques. The BISE had announced the results on August 1 in which Mr Faisal, a student of government college, Gulabad, had secured the top position.

Talking to Dawn, Mr Faisal said that he had applied for computer system engineering in the University of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar. Earlier, through a private TV channel programme he was introduced with Reham Khan who called him to Bani Gala where she gave him a cheque for Rs180,000 and announced Rs15,000 per month stipend till completion of his education. PTI chief Imran Khan also met the student and promised full support to him.

ATI-POLIO DRIVE: Lower Dir deputy commissioner Irfanullah Wazir on Thursday said that all arrangements had been finalised for the four-day anti-polio drive starting from Sept 14 in the district.

He was chairing a meeting in this regard at the DC Jirga Hall at Balambat. The meeting was informed that 272, 000 children below five years of age would be vaccinated during the campaign.

Meanwhile, chief drug inspector, Malakand region, Fida Mohammad Khan on Thursday warned the chemists of stern action if spurious medicines were found at their stores. Heading a team, he visited the medicine market and seized unregistered Indian medicines.
