LAHORE: Syed Noor has started shooting of his new film to project a positive image of Punjab Police.

“Shan is playing the lead in Bhai Wanted while real police officials will also perform in the film,” said Mr Noor while talking to Dawn.

He said a proposal had been presented to Lahore police high-ups to provide logistic support to the film crew so that the real picture of the force could be brought to the fore.

“Only negative aspects of police had been highlighted in the past and Bhai Wanted will be an attempt to dispel the impression that all cops are bad. The basic theme of the film is to expose modus operandi of car thieves and robbers’ gangs and the police efforts to recover the stolen vehicles,” Noor added.

He said it would show the modern techniques of arresting thieves and robbers.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Dr Haider Ashraf said Syed Noor had approached the department and discussed his project.

The DIG said he had directed a superintendent of police to provide logistic support to Noor for the film which would also show how policemen were giving sacrifices to save the public.

“Mr Noor and his team would be provided access to police stations, offices, vehicles, policemen and police lines to shoot the film,” Mr Ashraf said.

He added the film could be instrumental in removing the mistrust existing between the police and the public.

“The government has taken a number of measures to do away with the Thana culture,” he said, adding that about 265 policemen had sacrificed their lives while protecting the public in Lahore but there was still trust deficit between police and the people.
