LAHORE: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) continued sealing food outlets, eateries and production units besides imposing fines on them on Monday.

According to a PFA spokesperson, a team, headed by Director Ayesha Mumtaz, inspected the Shezan Beverage Factory on the Bund Road and sealed its pickle section due to mould and fungus on raw carrots and turnips to be used for pickle, open drain, improper screening of product processing areas, opening for rodents and no medical certificate of female food handlers/workers.

The same team also sealed another drinks’ factory, producing spurious drugs by using labels of international brand at Babu Sabu.

Iqbal Town PFA team imposed heavy fine on Jack the Rebel Restaurant in Johar Town and Lahore Broast for poor personnel hygiene and other issues.

Shalimar Town team seized 400 litres of unhygienic milk.

Data Town team sealed Data Restaurant near Data Darbar due to unhygienic conditions, dirty freezer and washing area. The same team sealed King Burger on Abdul Kareem Road due to uncovered food, dirty dustbin, no expiry date on bread and dirty washing area. It sealed Shan Charga at Islampura due to resistance by owners and unhygienic conditions, dirty washing area, cockroaches, dirty nails of workers and open drainage.

Another team in Shalimar Town lodged an FIR against Shalimar Company owner and got his three workers arrested due to illegal de-sealing of the factory and working without permission. The unit was earlier sealed on account of selling loose oil in a tanker.

It imposed Rs25,000 fine on a takeaway on the Shalimar Link Road due to dirty floor and freezers, substandard food and unhygienic conditions.

It imposed Rs15,000 fine on Butt Sweets and Bakers due to broken eggs and dirty freezers and as much fine on Good Luck Bakers due to incomplete labelling and uncovered food.

Gulberg Town team sealed Shan Hotel and Cakes and Bakes’ pizza section at Raja Market. Fine was also imposed on Dominoes Pizza at Kalma Chowk.

Aziz Bhatti Town team sealed Karachi Hot & Spicy Restaurant at Manawan due to unhygienic condition of the freezer, poor working conditions, no medical certificates for workers, flies and poor washing area.
