DERA GHAZI KHAN: After torrential rains in Sulaiman Range and Balochistan, several mountainous drains in Dera Ghazi Khan and Rajanpur are inundated and the level of flood in the Indus further increased on Wednesday.

Dera Ghazi Khan Commissioner Saqib Aziz has issued a warning to initiate evacuation from adjacent areas.

CHINIOT: Crops on several acres were inundated due to a 20-foot wide breach in a nullah on Wednesday.

As water level rose in the Chenab, adjoining canals and seem nullahs also started rising.

A 20ft wide breach occurred in the Chiniot-Jhang Road seem nullah that inundated crops on several acres in adjoining areas. However, the district administration, irrigation department and farmers filled the breach soon after.

SHAVED: A man shaved his wife’s head on Wednesday over suspicions of illicit relations.

Bhai Khan was often suspicious about his wife Fauzia Bibi’s character and usually had arguments over it.

On Tuesday night, after an argument, Khan and two accomplices tied Fauzia to a window with ropes and his accomplices allegedly attempted to rape her. When she offered resistance, they shaved her head and tortured her.

City police registered a case under sections 376, 511, 337-V against Khan.

District Police Officer Abdul Qadir Qamar said a police committee, headed by the City station house officer, had been constituted to arrest the culprits who were at large.
