ISLAMABAD: The MQM conveyed on Tuesday its concerns to the federal government against the ongoing operation of Rangers in Karachi and called it ‘unfair’ and ‘discriminatory’.
The party claimed that it was intentionally targeted or victimised, although the operation was apparently launched against criminals and outlaws.
During a meeting with Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, a delegation of MQM comprising Dr Farooq Sattar, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Barrister Saif and Kanwar Naveed Jamil conveyed to the minister the MQM’s concerns on the operation, said a spokesman for the ministry. Chaudhry Nisar, however, supported the operation and said it was being carried out according to law and without any discrimination.
Talking to Dawn, Khalid Maqbool said the minister was apprised that the operation had been politicised and it was only targeting MQM activists.

Karachi law and order situation has visibly improved after Rangers Operations. If for a moment we believe the version that MQM activists are being targeted then probably this is the right thing to do. Thank you Rangers.

Farooq Sattar please note you have no mandate from rest of Pakistan, you never work for peaceful Karachi, you are talking Suraki Shuba, election in Kashmir, Karachi ticket in senate and NA to rest of province, what you did for Karachi, Quota system, law and order, batha Mafia. killing, our Karachi youth become criminal, Karachi generating 70% of revenue and are not spending in Karachi rest of Pakistan using our revenue, pls keep in mind Rangers will stay in Karachi, they will catch any who are criminal. we need from you work for Karachi Shoba, Quota system, Electricity, water, medical. Can you give us this than OK, and you stop fighting with PTI.

Did any MQM leader or any other politician ever admit there are criminal elements amongst them ? Never... When operation is launched, every political party plays victim.
It's about time for the educated people of Karachi to wake up and reject the criminals. Playing ethnic cards is an old technique of politicians to stay in business.

MQM should allow peace a chance, if MQM is good political party then people will support it in peaceful times as well. MQM should focus on performance and then people will give mandate on merit rather than on threat. Let the operation continue against all criminals.

@Ashh MQM or PTI or any party will get vote as per governance performance! Can MQM improve governance and work for Karachi please. Can MQM set targets to make Karachi as educational hub of Pakistan by 2025? and of Asia by 2040 for eg? Can MQM make Karachi drug free and illegal weapons free? Can MQM make all educational institutions, and public place free of any politics? We development please. Stop talking about discrimination to gain people's sympathy.
Did Karachi has done any major policy change whether its quota or gain support of rest of Sindh by highlighting issues facing internal Sindh over the last 30 years or so? People in internal Sindh have died every year due malnutrition and what MQM contributed for its reduction while has been the part of provincial govt in Sindh?
I request to people in Karachi, please judge every MNA and MPA for their performance what they did for local issues, provincial issues and federal issues?

Wasn't it unfair when MQM called strikes and made poor more poorer, your involvements in target killings, and all the crimes of Karachi. The proof is that after rangers actions against all these crimes, Karachi is coming to its previous glory.

When operation was against lyari aman committee, against ANP and other criminals it was fair. As soon as rangers start arresting criminal under the umbrella of MQM, it becomes un fair, very strange??

@usman Lyari In all the raids against (Lyari Gang war) and in Sohrab Goth rangers faced resistant/cross firings even rocket launchers but in 90 both raids were peacefully conducted without any resistant as confirmed by DG rangers and also remember in all of Altaf speech MQM never condemn operations against criminals even within in MQM but at least it should be in legal way-arrest them take them to court and hang them no issue... but what if rangers arrest 100 person and later release 90 all in worst health condition, brutally tortured, bal 5 of them missing later found dead some where in garbage and balanced 5 in min. 90 days remand - what the hell they want that much to ask what??? obviously to torture and force them accept the crimes they never involved...

@AH I remember the days of Musharraf era the only time when MQM were in government with true Power and Money - Whole infrastructure was changed-neat and clean city with very less crimes almost no mobile snatching - Salute to Mr. Mustafa Kamal and All MQM workers and specially Altaf Bhai as without his support it was never possible but unfortunately since then the people again are in power and have money who never cares about us specially PPP...

Despite all the blames and excuses given by MQM opponents and non Karachites since 1986,the MQM had won on 85% seats in election in the past in all elections and will win again in the coming elections.Reason ,Karachites know that MQM has never been given effective power to manage the city except in Mr Musharraf's era and they proved their good governance.So as a civilised nation we must believe in one person one vote and wait for Local bodies election.

@zain it is right MQM have 85% vote bank for fighting for Quota system, jobs for Karachi, electricity and law and order, unfortunately they are involved in BATHA, issuing Karachi senate and NA ticket to non-Karachi people. not working for Karachi, working for their personal interest, his die hard workers suffered huge damaged, Karachi generating 75% revenue have no transport, and electricity they tabling motion against PTI this is not their business. they are fighting for non issue.
