It's not the first time that a Bollywood star have shown interest in visiting Pakistan, but this time it's not some old generation actor but a young one, who's expressed the desire.
Sidharth Malhotra, while shooting on the sets of Karan Johar's Kapoor and Sons with Fawad Khan and Alia Bhatt, has been impressed by Fawad's description of Pakistan and now wants to visit Pakistan, reported The Indian Express.
The two often exchange ideas about the diversity of their respective countries. Given that Fawad has seen many places in India and divides his time between the two countries, it is Sidharth who has decided that he needs to pay his co-star's homeland a visit.
“I would really like to visit Pakistan. There is so much I have got to know about the place through Fawad. I am hoping to make the trip sometime soon,” said Sidharth.
Sidharth who shot to fame with Johar's Student of The Year will be soon seen in Kapoor and Sons, which is slated to be released on March 16 2016.

@Karachi Wally I think you will be surprised .... in India, civilian Pakistanis are not hated or portrayed badly at all .... to be honest, Pakistan isn't discussed as much in India as India is discussed in Pakistan !!! You guys seem to carry a chip on your (collective) shoulder and need to just chill !!!!

@Ali I am a regular visitor of Times of India website and anti Pakistani news are everywhere and one of the most commented by the ppl. Their comments r deplorable (extremely abusive towards not just Pakistan but even Islam). On the other hand comments by Pakistanis on Pakistani newspapers like dawn are still more subtle. Plz don't get me wrong, I am not demonizing indian or Indians but Pakistan is discussed in length and breadth over there and is evident from their news papers.

@Ali , Indian civilians are respected same way in Pakistan. In terms of obsession, Indian politicians seems pretty obsessed with Pakistan. You are certainly out of touch on this point if you don't know that. Pakistanis are a proud nation and more resilient . They know how to live against all odds/adversaries.

At the end of the proposed tour he will come to a conclusion that both the people are as good or bad, as honest or corrupt, as lazy or hard working.Both welcome guests and will invite for dinners. Both have beautiful places to visit.

Pakistan is a warm and welcoming neighboring country. Please make sure to visit Karachi's Port Grande, Mount Cape beach and of course our beautiful Mughal city Lahore as well as our pristeen Northern areas .. you will be wowed by the variety of delish food and festive cultural aura ... thus you will forget the anti-Pakistan nonsense most of your Indian media spouts after you depart from here with winsome warm memories of Pakistan! Just make sure Fawad is your guide .. he knows all best foodie venues ; ))

Yes comments on Times on India are vile and nasty. But they are not moderated. No decent human should be reading them or contributing.
Dawn is in a different league. The comments here are moderated and it attracts just frankly better quality people. I have never visited other pakistani newpapers so I don't know about comments there.
Generally any un-moderated forum on web devolves to it lowest thinking contributors.
I think Dawn should think of starting a Indian newspaper based in India, they'll do very well.

@Karachi Wally : I agree with you that Indian media portrays a much worse image of Pakistan than it really is but then so does media all over the world. Here in the US, the only time Pakistan is mentioned in digital or print media is if its related to terrorism. I would like to see Pakistan being mentioned in subjects related to finance, science, tourism, technology etc. I hope you guys get rid of terrorism from your country & portray the image of a beautiful Pakistan everywhere.

@Ali I actually live abroad and have access to most pakistani and Indian news channels.
I challenge any Indian to spend a day watching Pakistani news and thenspend a day watching Indian news and tell me who's obsessed with who.
Mate trust me pakistani media for all it's shortcomings is far more mature when it comes to dealing with India Pak issue.
Also read the comments on dawn and then have a look at Indian newspapers you'll find a stark difference in behaviours with Pakistanis again coming on top when it comes to maturity.
Don't always judge a book by its cover.

I have lived for over 44 years in the west and the one thing that westerners who have lived in both countries constantly tell me is that Pakistanis have a terrific sense of humour and are very resilient, hospitable and genuinely like westerners. They recall their time in Pakistan so fondly particularly favouring the local food and the "beautiful" women. In any reference to India they usually raise their eyebrows and refer to Indians as "thin skinned" or "prickly pearish". Need I say more? I think these views reflect what most Pakistanis believe as well.

Hi,
I have almost lived for the same time as you in the west.I´ve met many Europeans who have been to Pakistan,all of them without exception were simply thrilled about it,but once on the Indian side just passed through Punjab and their India began in Delhi or beyond.
So your comparison is unfair...

I have been to both countries and I felt that a great injustice was perpetrated in splitting one nation into two. As an Afghan the only glaring difference I noticed was that Indians were generally more liberal.

I'm just curious about why, when we have so much in common, is there so much distrust and strife between us .... I really do hope I can visit Pakistan sometime soon !! x

TOI is un-moderated by design to get more traffic and more ad revenue whereas Dawn is much responsible media moderating comments rejecting that preach hatred or do not follow the guidelines. So comparing TOI commenters to Dawn commenters and comparing them as Indian thinking and Pakistani thinking is not an apple-to-apple comparison.Good comparison will be when Dawn is not moderated...
Alas, even when there is positive news like here Sid loves to visit Pakistan, we find a way to fight... Not liking it as a peace loving citizen of the earth...

I am a regular Dawn reader but I don't really read the TOI online - maybe that tells you something about the regard I have for TOI - perhaps I need to base my views on a larger sample of Pakistani channels and rethink my view ....

God permit I would like to take a cultural and historic tour of Pakistan.I think with a western passport it wouldn't be a problem.But as an oversees citizen of India,they can deny me visa.May be after some time when I am a bit more older and wiser,India Pak will be like Canada and US.

If only this were the truth. Pakistanis are always portrayed as extremists in Indian media. And Indian media never portrays terrorists as an extreme minority in Pakistan either - in fact, it portrays us all as at least terrorist sympathizers, if not outright terrorists. So let's not act like Indians are somehow more mature than we are. And your media is full of Pakistan stories- we can all access Indian websites and see for ourselves, so again, you don't have the space to be so arrogant.

@افغان ميهن As an Afghan, if you had bothered to go to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa or Balochistan, you would have noticed that these countries have very little to share culturally with India. Pakistan =/= Punjab & Sindh. Can't believe we're still having debates about partition 60+ years on.

We do not regularly discuss the pakistan unless it has something to do with terrorism, we are very busy doing our work and we are mostly engaged with countries like US,China,Israel, Russia,Japan for business and economic growth.

@Karachi Wally Karachiwally.... some of my cousins married Punjabis whose parents belonged to Lahore, Gujrawala and other parts of Pakistan. There are some office staff who trace their homes to Karachi and Hyderabad- they are Sindhis.
There are many friends in Lucknow who have blood relations in Karachi.
Dont generalize... If possible come on a tour of India and trust me you will go back pleasantly surprised and with a completely different mindset.

The best yardstick is to talk to rickshaw drivers, small businessmen, road side vendors etc. The informal sector accounts for about 70% of the economy. Those who comment are less than a few lakh people who are not opinion makers.
So discount such people... but take views of people on street. Lets see what do we get.

I came across few patients from Pakistan while working in New Delhi hospitals. They arrived with a lot of suspicion because of volatile situations as per media description but realised the truth soon.Most of them gave positive opinion about Indian people, Indian doctors and India as a country. They have a lot of respect for Indian doctors. Only small problem faced by some patients who stayed for long periods was they couldn't get non vegetarian food as many hospitals do not permit non-vegetaeian items in their campus. In fact you will get patients from Pakistan in all the major hospitals in India all of whom return with a smile. Media will rarely show this because it is not a 'sansanikhej khabar'

Why do we need to get into "my country is better than yours "syndrome? I have many Pakistani friends and they are all very nice human beings. So are my Indian friends. I don't judge my friends based on their nationality and I doubt anyone would - once a friend it doesn't matter where he is from and what religion he practices. I am sure both India and Pakistan have pluses and minuses as a nation but can we focus on the positives and enjoy our shared rich common heritage?
