BAHAWALPUR: In the English declamation contest for schoolboys, Owais Aziz and Hafiz Waleed were adjudged first and second while in girls Mahnoor and Rida Fatimah won first and second positions, respectively.

Punjab Cooperatives Minister Malik Muhammad Iqbal Channar and Parliamentary Secretary for Irrigation Khalid Mehmood Jajja gave away cash prizes, trophies and certificates to winners.

According to Khalid Jajja, prizes to the tune of Rs2.9 million were given to students for their encouragement.

Zonal Jahez Committee Chairman MNA Begum Parveen Masood Bhatti on Saturday distributed cheques worth Rs0.7 million for marriage of 50 poor girls.

The selection was conducted through a draw at the office of Auqaf zonal administrator.
