ISLAMABAD: During a meeting with Saudi Foreign Minister Adel bin Ahmed Al Jubeir in Kuwait yesterday, the premier's Adviser on Foreign Affairs and National Security Sartaj Aziz reiterated Pakistan’s unequivocal support and strong commitment to the security and territorial integrity of Saudi Arabia.

The meeting took place on Wednesday on the sidelines of the 42nd Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council meeting of foreign ministers, a statement by the Foreign Office said.

The adviser extended warm congratulations to Jubeir on his appointment as Saudi Arabia's foreign minister and conveyed deep condolences over the loss of lives in the terrorist attack in the country's eastern province.

While discussing the regional situation and the crisis in Yemen, Aziz reprised Pakistan's support for the protection of the two Holy Mosques. He briefed Jubeir on Pakistan's efforts to engage regional countries in resolving the Yemen crisis in a peaceful manner.

The Saudi foreign minister remarked that Saudi Arabia and Pakistan enjoyed close brotherly and strategic relations. He added that these relations were based on strong foundations and are destined strengthen.

Jubier also referred to the multifaceted cooperation between the two countries and underlined the need for further enhancing trade and investment.

The Saudi foreign minister also expressed deep appreciation for the valuable contribution of more than two million Pakistanis to the development of Saudi Arabia.

Aziz also briefed Jubier on the successful outcome of Zarb-e-Azb and the economic turnaround that Pakistan achieved.

Referring to improvement in Pakistan's investment climate, Aziz mentioned the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project which involves a total investment of $46 billion over the next five to seven years.

Expressing his affection for Pakistan, Foreign Minister Jubeir said that he is looking forward to visiting Pakistan in the near future.
