LISBON: The Portuguese Foreign Minister, Senor Franco Nogueira, has said “it has always been the political orientation of the Indian Union to fight for the conquest of geographical oneness of the Indian subcontinent”. He was asked to elaborate his earlier remark that, “the Indian Union, adopting its imperialistic policy, has once again committed aggression against Pakistan”, at a Press conference, in Lisbon recently. Mr Nogueira felt that the incidents that have taken place on the Pakistan-India border (in the Rann of Kutch) “have, therefore, to be viewed in this light”. Continuing, he said: “The incidents are the outcome of the permanent aims of the Indian Union and we can only express our hope that the Government of Pakistan is fully conscious of the intentions of the Indian Union and will not allow itself to be deceived by any “promise” of “peace” or of “negotiations”.

He said the Indian Union, against all rights of Pakistan and contrary to the wishes of the smashing majority of the interested population, persists in its ambition to annex or conquer “Kashmir”. The Portuguese Foreign Minister said the aggressive acts of “authentic political imperialism” which the Indian Government has already practised during its short history since independence indicated her intentions for the conquest of the entire Sub-continent. One of its victims as mentioned recently by Pakistan Government, he said, is Goa. The other countries sandwiched between Indian and China, have equally been so, he added. “We don’t believe that Ceylon is exempt,” he said.

The concern is that if the government is thinking of cutting costs through the merger, we might even lose the functionality levels we currently have.
