OKARA: Sadar police station house officer was shot at and injured by unidentified attackers on Sunday evening when he was on routine patrol in the rural area.

According to police, official vehicle of the SHO, Inspector Mahr Muhammad Ismail, was fired at by some unidentified armed men on Akbar Road.

As a result, Mr Ismail received bullet injuries on his right shoulder and neck. He was shifted to the district headquarters hospital where he was stated to be stable.

On being informed of the attack, District Police Officer Muhammad Faisal Rana rushed to the hospital and inquired after his subordinate.

The DPO told reporters at the hospital that the attackers managed to escape on a motorcycle after injuring the SHO.

He said police teams were chasing the fleeing attackers, while staff on pickets across the district had been alerted.
