KOHAT: A large number of residents of College Town here on Sunday blocked the Kohat-Rawalpindi road to protest the more than 16 hours of loadshedding.

The protesters led by famous Radio artist Naeem Kohati marched towards the Rawalpindi road grid station, but they staged a sit-in on the road for two hours after police and Pesco officials arrived at the scene to talk to them.

After getting assurance that duration of loadshedding would be curtailed the protesters dispersed peacefully.

Meanwhile, the Pesco has again resorted to excessive loadshedding in the city areas despite a violent protest by residents a few days back.

People complained that there was no schedule for loadshedding, as sometimes light went out for three straight hours causing mental agony to them.

They said the electricity was cut during the evening, morning and night prayers. They added that as most mosques had no alternative lighting facilities faithful had to offer prayers in severe heat.
