KARACHI: King Feisal of Saudi Arabia has accepted President Ayub’s invitation to visit Pakistan, Mr Mohammad Shoaib, the Central Finance Minister, said in Karachi. The Finance Minister, who led a three-man Pakistani delegation to Riyadh to felicitate King Feisal on his accession to the Saudi throne was talking to newsmen at Karachi airport.

Although no date has been fixed, Mr Shoaib said the King had agreed to visit Pakistan when he is “free from the pressing problems” at home. The King has also sent a special message to President Ayub. Mr Shoaib did not disclose the contents of the message. Finance Minister Shoaib also delivered a personal message of President Ayub to King Feisal when he called on the Saudi monarch. Mr Shoaib said the King was “very gracious” to receive us.

[Meanwhile, as reported by agencies from Cairo], President Gamal Abdel Nasser has been re-elected for a six-year term, it was announced here today [March 16]. The announcement made by the Interior Ministry said President Nasser received 99.9 per cent “yes” votes in yesterday’s polls. He was the only candidate. In 1956 Nasser was elected to his first term as President by 99.84 per cent of the vote. He was re-elected by a vote of 99.99 per cent in 1958. Demonstrators in lorries toured Cairo welcoming the re-election of President Nasser. They carried banners and chanted “Nasser, Nasser, Nasser” as they paraded through the city centre.
