HYDERABAD: Sindh Minister for Information and Local Government Sharjeel Inam Memon has said that the law and order in the province has improved and the crime graph dropped drastically.
Speaking to journalists after holding a meeting in the old district nazim secretariat on Sunday, he said honest police officers had been posted in districts like Khairpur, Jacobabad, Shikarpur and Hyderabad and the chief minister himself was monitoring the Rangers-led targeted operation in Karachi.

He said law-enforcers had been given a freehand and this was evident from their operations in Lyari.
Mr Memon said that hate literature was being seized and provocative graffiti of political or religious nature was being removed by law-enforcers as well as the LG department.
“The government respects seminaries as they impart religious education but those involved in indoctrination of students will not be tolerated,” he said.
Regarding the recently set up apex committee in Sindh, the minister said it was implementing decisions for peace and good governance. “An operation is under way against illegal immigrants, who will eventually be repatriated to their own areas,” he said.
Earlier, the minister chaired a meeting to review sanitation and plantation campaign in the province.
On Saturday evening, the minister told journalists at Rani Bagh that the PPP had tasked Rehman Malik with striking a deal with the MQM. “Mr Malik will apprise the top party leadership of MQM’s demands before a final decision is taken,” he said.
He, however, added that he was not aware of any 60-40 formula having been agreed upon between PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and MQM chief Altaf Hussain as some quarters believed.
Mr Memon said that the prime minister had stopped the chief minister’s order regarding removal of the Sindh chief secretary which the provincial government believed was an undue interference in its affairs. He said the matter would be taken up with the federal government.
