THE C & S Government Degree College in Shikarpur is the oldest college in Sindh. But it has been facing a host of problems for quite some time.

Many classes as well as examinations are held in verandas of the college building because of a shortage of classrooms. Besides, botany, zoology, physics, chemistry and computer laboratories are in a dilapidated condition. Renovation work which had started in 2010 is hardly halfway through.

The principal’s residence, staff rooms, students and teachers’ hostel and the sports complex are on the verge of collapse and so are not being used by anyone.

There is an acute shortage of funds to purchase chemicals and instruments for laboratories and books for the library.

At least 20 acres of the college has been illegally occupied by an influential person.

We appeal to the authorities concerned to take urgent measures to resolve all the problems of the college.
