RAWALPINDI: The local administration has deactivated the existing website of City District Government Rawalpindi (CDGR) and assigned a non-governmental organisation (NGO) the task of developing a new one.

Despite having information technology experts, the CDGR has asked Centre for Peace and Development Initiatives (CPDI) to develop the new website.

On Wednesday, the CDGR and CDPI signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) under which the new website would be developed by January 31.

CPDI will assist the CDGR in developing the website, and under the MoU, it will provide training to as many as three government officials on troubleshooting and publishing data on the website.

According to the Punjab Transparency and Right to Information (RTI) Act 2013, every district government should have to proactively disclose information to citizens which is defined under Section 4 of RTI Act 2013.
