Federer, Djokovic battle it out with Bollywood greats in India

NEW DELHI: Attendees of the International Premier Tennis League (IPTL) on Monday came to watch the match hoping to see tennis legends Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic battle it out. Little did they know that big names from B-town such as Aamir Khan, Deepika Padukone and Askhay Kumar had also come to play exhibition matches before the start of the match between Indian Aces and UAE Royals.

According to Deccan Chronicle, all the stars had put their film schedules and promotions on hold to engage in the friendly match with the players.

The fun time on the court began with Aamir Khan and Federer playing against tennis player Sania Mirza and world number one tennis champion, Novak Djokovic.

Aamir Khan got the most time on the court with the tennis all-stars, impressing the audience at the Indira Gandhi Stadium. Deepika, whose father, Prakash Padukone, is a professional badminton player, followed after along with Akshay Kumar, Sania Mirza and Ritesh Deshmukh.

Other celebrities who were also in attendance at the much-awaited inaugural of the IPTL in New Delhi include Lara Dutta, who is also the wife of IPTL founder Mahesh Bhupati, Amitabh Bachchan and Mohammad Azharuddin.

Federer won the shoot-out 6-5 and the set 6-6 as the UAE Royals won the match while the Indian Aces maintained their lead at the top of the table with 30 points.
