HYDERABAD: A number of students of various varsities and relatives of a missing student of Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET) took out a rally in protest against his ‘enforced’ disappearance. The student was picked up by police, officials in plainclothes and Rangers from outside the varsity on Nov 26, they claimed.

Carrying picture of the missing student, placards and banners, they shouted slogans against the law enforcement agencies, including police and Rangers. They marched from the Old Campus of the Sindh University to the local press club on Thursday.

Suneel Sangi, brother of the missing student, and MUET’s third-year-student Kamlaish Kumar Meghwar said that as soon as the student (Suneel’s brother) with other fellows came out of the varsity on Nov 26 a policeman asked his name and picked him up after verification.

Suneel said he had complained to the SHO of Jamshoro police station and SSP Jamshoro against the enforced disappearance of his brother, but they were reluctant to lodge an FIR.

The police also did not admit arrest of the student, he said.
