Altaf Hussain demands separate FATA province

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain on Monday said Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) should be made a separate province, DawnNews reported.
The MQM chief demanded the state of ensuring fundamental rights to the people of Fata on priority basis.
Earlier on Sunday, Hussain was addressing a meeting of Punjabi and Seraiki workers of his party at the Lal Qila ground and said that creating more provinces in Pakistan was in the larger interest of the 200 million people of the country and necessary for good governance.

He said new provinces and administrative units were being created all over the world in view of the growing population. However, in Pakistan this demand was being opposed just to maintain status quo.
The MQM chief has repeatedly demanded the creation of new provinces and earlier in September went on to say that Pakistan would be wiped out from the global map if new administrative borders were not drawn.

Hussain said that nationalist parties had created a fuss when he had demanded the creation of new provinces, adding that he was not the only one talking about the need for new provinces as Tahirul Qadri and Imran Khan had also demanded for the creation of new provinces.

Your demands for new provinces as FATA, Sindh2, and Saraiki etc all right but your are so inconsistent and controversial person that people don't want to listen anything from you, even good ones. First try to change your attitude and develop your character.

He does have a point, but the provinces to be split should start one at a time and not altogether. They should start by FATA a province and then Split should start from Baluchistan and then Punjab then Sindh.

This is not a bad thing to ask. Infact I would like to site one example. In india the current Punjab was actually greater Punjab. It included the current Punjab, harayana and himachal Pradesh. The split of greater Punjab has actually helped the development of all the three. Even at that time ...it was considered as something not acceptable as it was termed as a demand by Sikhs to have a majority Sikh area. But today these 3 states are at the top when it comes to development. The current example of another state is Uttar Pradesh....which is in shambles just because of the huge population base of 200 million ...nearly equal to the population of Pakistan. It has 75 districts....I bet even the chief minister doesn't know the names of all these 75 districts. And this is something that people working in private sector will understand. If you don't even know your territory ...how will you manage it.

genuine demand of the FATA people too,they still have no name & identity. FCR the black rule in Pakistan is only there,no development since 1947,only destruction is written in the fate of these people.political agent is the non audit-able god father of an agency having lot of authority.neither P.M nor the president visit the Fata.

Listen to the man. He knows, what he is talking about. All the advance and progressive countries have manageable size of provinces and further subdivided into local governments to manage their schools, law enforcement and public service governed by local elected officials. These local officials become national players in politics when they rise to prominence after serving their districts or municipalities. Learn from those who have done it and are reaping the fruits of success.,Case and point: Look around and you will see the examples again and again in Turkey, England, Poland and USA. All the presidents / prime ministers of these countries were the grass root activists and local government elected officials in their early and younger ages. Why we can not do the same. Don't be against the proposal, just because you do not like person who is talking about change.

The best option is to make all Divisions as LG's and abolish all provincial Governments just duplicating the role of Federal Government and in the process, making the lives difficult for the "ruled" called ordinary people.

the govt of sindh was not aware what was happening in Thar,...it was due to media which high lighted the suffering of Thari...even elected members from Thar never visited after the election

What Pakistan has is not working. Is there any one else in Pakistan with common sense, who can articulate the issue of more provinces to deal with the existing problems. If people do not want to listen to Altaf Hussain, they should use their own brain and see is if it makes any sense.

I am not a supporter of Altaf Hussain but his demands of creating new provinces are just. Keeping in view of population and area of pakistan there should be atleast 32 provinces. Take example of Germany, there are 16 provinces/states and its less than half of Pakistan in area and have half as much pupulation than Pakistan.
