MANSEHRA: As many as 78,000 poor families of Mansehra district would benefit from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s recently introduced ‘cheap ghee and flour scheme’.

This was stated by deputy commissioner Ikramullah Khan, while speaking at the launching ceremony of the programme here on Friday. He gave away relief cards to the selected families.

“You can avail cheap ghee and flour from 138 utility stores across the district and in case of any difficulty you can approach us, directly or through a toll free telephone number,” said Mr Khan.

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf district president Shafahat Ali and a large number of deserving people were in attendance.

The DC said that the district administration would ensure hassle free distribution of package among the poor. He said that a control room was also established at his office to monitor activities under the programme.

On the occasion, Shafahat Ali said that the PTI-led provincial government was striving to launch schemes to benefit poor segments of the society and end corruption from public departments.

FARES REDUCED: The transporters in Hazara division have reduced fares on almost all routes up to 15 per cent in order to pass the relief to people after a significant cut in petroleum products was announced by the government.

The president of Hazara transport association Jan Alam Khan and secretary general Pervez Khan announced this while speaking at a press conference on Friday.

Mr Alam said that fare on the route from Mansehra to Balakot was slashed from Rs66 to Rs55, Oghi from Rs70 to Rs60, Chaterplan from Rs80 to Rs70, Abbottabad from Rs40 to Rs35, Haripur from Rs105 to Rs95, Gari Habibullah from Rs50 to Rs45, Muzaffarabad from Rs100 to Rs90 and Buttle from Rs70 to Rs60, respectively.

ABBOTTABAD TRAGEDY: The convener of Tehreek-i-Subah Hazara Mushtaq Khan on Friday revealed that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had lodged FIR of the April 12, 2010 incident in Abbottabad after two months after the happening, but didn’t make it public until recently.

Speaking at a press conference, he said that the contents of the previous FIR emerged after a fresh on-line FIR was registered recently.

Mr Khan said that in the previous FIR, registered with the Cantt police station in Abbottabad, the then government had avoided nominating anyone in it. Mr Khan said that the fresh FIR had sought exemplary punishment for those who killed the unarmed protesters.— Correspondent
