GHALANAI: Over 4,000 candidates having MA and BA degrees appeared for physical and written test for around 400 posts of constables in the Mohmand Levies on Friday, a senior official said.

The official said that as per the criteria the candidates having middle pass certificate and 18 to 25 years of age with 5x7 height were eligible for the posts. However, he said that majority of candidates had graduation and post-graduation degrees, which was because of rampant unemployment in the tribal region.

But, the official said that it was good for the levies force to have educated youth in its ranks, who could better utilise their abilities to strengthen it.

He said that three camps had been set up for the recruitment process supervised by political agent Khushal Khan, additional political agent Abdul Hameed Jan and all the three assistant political agents of the three tehsils of the tribal agency.

Speaking on the occasion, political agent Khushal Khan said that the recruitments would be made on merit as the administration had set up a proper selection committee to ensure transparency in the selection process.

He said that special seats had also been allocated for the sons and close relatives of the fallen personnel of the force.
