Taliban's Mehsud faction condemns attack on JUI-F chief

ISLAMABAD: The Taliban's Mehsud faction, led by Khan Said alias Sajna, has condemned the attack on Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and has said that attacks on Ulema were disgraceful.

Azam Tariq, spokesman for the Mehsud Taliban, said the group condemned the attack and felt that those involved in similar incidents were against ulema and Islam.

Tariq, who had previously also served as the TTP spokesman under former Taliban chief Hakimullah Mehsud who was killed in a US drone strike on November 1, 2013, said that Khan Said Sajna was still the Ameer of the Taliban's Mehsud faction and that members of the group were united under his command.

Earlier on Thursday, at least two people were killed and dozens had been injured when a suspected suicide bomber detonated his explosives outside a JUI-F rally in Quetta.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman remained unhurt in the attack which targeted his bullet-proof vehicle. The banned militant group Jundallah claimed responsibility for the attack.

Very wise strategy of the outlaws to win the support of their patrons by extending their sympathies by one group and other claiming the attack. There seems some misunderstanding between the attackers and their noted target.

what does this tell of the ideology of the JUI-F? They are the TTP in everything but name, backward, women suppressing, stuck in the past, unable to understand the modern world. They make a fitting couple.

Fazl ur rehaman's relevancy in modern times shows Pakistan's dismal state.This person has contributed nothing. Absolutely zero. He has been an obstacle in everything that might have improved the lives of countrymen with his backward attitude towards progress.

@Raffic Maulana sahib has contributed a lot over the years but to himself only. Pakistan and Pakistanis are not his primary concern. He was in a bullet proof car which saved his life. Next time we might see him in a bomb proof vehicle. How about the innocents, in their hundreds and thousands, who will fall to such barbaric terrorist acts. Would maulana sahib condemn the likes of TTP for their abhhorent crimes?

@Ganga Din and you have proof of that? If not then you are guilty false accusations as two people died. You are accusing fazl of staging an attack that resulted in murder. On judgment day you will be asked to produce witness, what will you do then?

@hamza :: Why not Fazl be classified as ulema... after all he has received advanced degree from a University in Cairo, Egypt, which is one of the most prestigious learning centers in all of Islam.
