KARACHI: Lieutenant General Naveed Mukhtar on Friday assumed the charge of Karachi corps, sources said.

They added that Lt Gen Mukhtar, who replaced Lt Gen Sajjad Ghani, took charge at a ceremony attended by senior government officials at the corps headquarters.

Lt Gen Mukhtar was posted to the army’s Corps V after being promoted to the rank of lieutenant general last month.

Unlike his predecessor who originally came from the corps of engineers, the new corps commander belongs to the armoured corps. He was commissioned in 1983.
