KARACHI: Beaconhouse School PECHS and Khan Secondary School notched-up impressive victories in the league matches of the HBL Inter-School Cricket Tournament here on Tuesday.

Beaconhouse School PECHS defeated Habib Public School by 55 runs at the KCCA Stadium while Khan Secondary School beat Fahim’s School by eight wickets at Lawai Stadium, Naya Nazimabad.

Beaconhouse team, batting first, were all out for 176 in 36.2 overs. Shahrukh Khan topscored with 50 off 58 balls with the help of six fours while Taha Arsalan (33) and Faraz Saba (26) also batted well.

There were 38 extras. Ahmed Kabir (2-19), Umair Arshad (2-35) and Ahmed Shakeel (2-36) shared six wicket between them. Set to score 177 in 40 overs, Habib Public School were bowled out for 121 in 31 overs.

Abdullah Ali (21) batted well but the rest of the batsmen succumbied to the spin duo of Huzaifa Ahmed (3-18) and Mudassir Godil (3-25).

In the other match, Khan School won after Fahim’s School was routed for 108 in 23.5 overs, losing their last nine wickets for only 69 runs. Opener Abdul Hamid (23) was the top scorer.

Off-spinner Faizan Shaikh, adjudged man of the match, returned the impressive figures of 4 for 20 off 5.5 overs. Pacer Mohammad Nabil (2-23) and leg-spinner Arish Khan (2-25) also bowled well.

Khan Secondary School raced to the modest target of 109 in 11.5 overs, losing only a couple of wickets in the process. Opener Arsal Bashir led the victory charge with an unbeaten 55 off 39 balls, smashing a dozen boundaries. Faizan Shaikh made 26.
