MUCH has been said in the media about the marathon joint session of parliament which saw regular presence of the prime minister. Otherwise, adversaries in politics, joined hands together to support the present government and strengthen democracy and stop it from being derailed.

The nation watched the prime minister telling ‘a lie’ about the government’s request to the army chief to ‘facilitate’ a dialogue with Imran Khan and Dr Tahirul Qadri to find a solution to the political impasse.

Then we all heard loud and clear the prime minister whispering to Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan: “Geo ka naam lo”.

Such actions of the prime minister, in any other country, would have been disastrous for his political career and early impeachment.

Then we watched Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan and Nisar Ali Khan exchanging barbs, accusing each other of corruption and claiming to be in possession of evidences in support of their allegations.

What surprises me is the fact that Chaudhry Iftikhar, the former chief justice, took suo motu notice for an umpteenth time and the NAB was active in initiating corruption cases against numerous politicians with slightest of doubts and evidence.

There is now, however, a complete silence even in cases of such open allegations of corruption. Could somebody throw some light on this situation?
