KE meter policy

Published September 22, 2014

I HAVE been in argument with my tenant for the last 18 months. This is because of Karachi Electric, which does not believe in issuing separate meters for anyone living in double or multiple-storey buildings.

This means it issues or allows only one meter for one building. This is irrational and makes people suffer.

Thus I receive every month a bill for over Rs25,000, and this has been happening for the past 18 months. This triggers altercation between me and my tenant. KE is not entertaining my application for a separate meter.

I request KE officials through these columns to end this policy and allow me (as well as others) to have a separate meter.

Merging for what?

Merging for what?

The concern is that if the government is thinking of cutting costs through the merger, we might even lose the functionality levels we currently have.
