LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday admitted for hearing a petition against the Islamabad sit-ins staged by the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT).

A request filed by Advocate AK Dogar said that both protesting parties were stopped by the LHC from carrying on with their unconstitutional sit-ins in the capital. Dogar demanded for legal action to be taken against PTI chief Imran Khan and PAT chief Dr Tahirul Qadri.

A three-member bench of LHC, headed by Justice Ijaz-ul-Hassan, will hear the case tomorrow (Friday). Earlier in August, the court had restrained PTI and PAT from holding the 'Azadi' or 'Inqilab' march.

The LHC had issued its verdict over the petition filed by a citizen against the marches announced by PTI, PAT and had declared the demands put forward by Imran Khan and Tahirul Qadri as "unconstitutional".

“PTI and PAT are restrained from launching 'Azadi' march, 'Inqilab' march or holding [sit-in] at Islamabad, in any unconstitutional way,” a short order issued by a full bench, headed by Justice Khalid Mahmood Khan, had said.

The court had also observed that leaders and activists of PTI and PAT could face legal action in case the constitution was violated.
