BAHAWALPUR: Cantonment police claimed on Tuesday to have found the allegedly kidnapped newborn baby girl in a park.

According to City DSP Riaz Bokhari, the employees of a petrol pump near GPO heard on Monday night screams of a baby lying abandoned alongside the wall of the park adjacent to the filling station. The petrol pump staff handed over the baby to police.

On Aug 19, the wife of Abdul Jalil of Chailawahan, Khairpur Tamewali tehsil, gave birth to a baby girl at a private hospital near the park. The infant was allegedly kidnapped from her mother’s bed.

Police have arrested four employees of the hospital.

Police claimed that one of the employees Muhammad Riaz, the main suspect, was being interrogated. The baby was handed over to her father Abdul Jalil.

SECTION 144: District Coordination Officer Imran Sikandar Baloch under Section 144 of CrPC imposed a ban on the assembly of five or more people belonging to PTI or PAT.

This is for the first time that any DCO has banned the gathering of political parties’ activists by name, which has been mentioned in the official handout issued here on Tuesday by the public relations director.

Their workers have also been barred from taking out rallies.
