LAHORE: Lahore High Court Chief Justice Khwaja Imtiaz Ahmad has ordered compulsory retirement of Assistant Registrar Syed Zia Abbas on charges of corruption and professional misconduct.
The officer was found guilty during the course of an inquiry that proposed imposition of major penalty of compulsory retirement, says a release.
The assistant registrar was also served with a final show-cause notice and his reply was found unsatisfactory. Moreover, Habibullah Amir, member inspection team, conducted his personal hearing on behalf of the chief justice.
After meeting all departmental formalities and as the allegations against the officer stood proved, the chief justice ordered compulsorily retirement with effect from Aug 7, 2014, under rule 23(a)(5) of the High Court Establishment (Appointment and Conditions of Service) Rules.
