PARACHINAR: A local jirga has contradicted a news item appeared in this newspaper regarding return of a cleric to the tribal area before Eidul Azha.

A joint statement issued by members of the jirga from Kohat, former chief justice of Peshawar High Court Justice Syed Ibne Ali, Syed Abdul Hussain and Syed Mian Shah Raza said that neither the government had made any decision regarding return of the expelled cleric to the area before Eidul Azha nor the jirga had discussed the issue with the administration.

The statement said that members of the jirga believed that the government should sort out the issue as per its own policy.
