Why Pakistanis like Chinese so much ? Despite the fact many Chinese even don't know about Pakistan as their bordering country (this is my personal experience). This one sided love is not comprehensible. I don't say you hate them but view them the way they view you.

@ How Asians View each others: Since when US is in Asia ? Just noticed for Pakistan, china is a favorable country with a massive figure of 78 (don't know the basis of scale i mean what is 78 but one can understands), while on the other hand for China Pakistan is favorable country with below average figure of 30. Well i am not surprised with the results. Just sharing this out of my interest, I had friends from China, and according to them their old generation e.g father or uncles know and regard Pakistan much more than they do. Well I was not surprise, because at that time we were also Champions of Hockey, Squash, Cricket, and winning Gold medal in CWG and Olympics was not an alien idea for Pakistan. We can feel the slippery slope under our feet, no body knows for how long we going to be sliding on this or may even fall or rise again.

@ProudtobeanINDIAN I work with both Indians and Bangladeshi quite regularly. As per my on-the-ground limited chit chat in Dhaka with people from all walk of life, Bangladeshi people have mostly a negative perception of India and they consider it to be an enemy rather than a friend. The animosity generally revolved around water distribution and border related issues and I got the feeling that Bangali's dont trust India in the long run. This may not be the case with the current Bangladeshi government who are more in favor of India than Pakistan. I am interested to get an Indian perspective on this as well if it can be kindly provided.

The US does pretty much everything for it's own interest. Life isn't fair. When Pakistan was in that situation in Bangladesh and Afgahnistan they did the same thing. People always claim the US created the Taleban and forgot them today it's back firing. Pakistan did the same thing for it's own agenda in the 80's and left the Taleban to evolve into what they are today. Going back to the topic. What does the US have to do to prove it's not Pakistan's ememy? Why should the US solve Pakistan's problems when Pakistan isn't even trying to solve them it self.

This does not make sense: In one part of the survey, 70% of Bangladeshis have a favorable view of India & yet in another part, they consider India as a threat. Anyways, its good too see that most people in US & Japan view India favorably. This credit largely goes to the hard working & high achieving Indian diaspora. Pakistan on the other hand has its work cut out in order to build its global reputation.

@Asad - When you share border with certain countries and you throw your weight around for resources, it is quite likely your neighbor country would not like you. Check your best friends China's relationship with its neighbors :) I also have issue with Bangladesh, I live in Gurgaon which is a cosmopolitan satellite town near Delhi. All the maids and rickshaw pullers here are Bangladeshis (90%). They have started taking over other occupations like house keeping in corporate offices, vegetable hawkers and will definitely move up in the value chain. India has very high unemployment rate and even our people are fighting for the same jobs (though I doubt this survey has representation from that class), we have a porous border, high Bangladeshi population in eastern states and sometime casualties as well on the border. For me Bangladesh has lot more damaging impact on Indian economy (which is hidden), than with Pakistan where we direct military confrontation (though inflated defense budget is PIA). I think you have a similar situation with Afghanistan which is being overlooked. On other note, I think the survey questionnaire design was flawed, though more likely they wanted to keep things this way. Respondents would have ticked closest ally, highest threat from same bunch of countries (separate question and hence single country can be threat and ally at the same time). Same goes for favorable views (please tick from bunch of countries which you think have favorable/ good relationship with your countries)

@Eddied It is possible this liking of the Chinese is due to the admiration of hardwork and economic achievements of China. However, there is a fallacy there. The Chinese development is due to their being non-muslim. ie US jews and christians have systematically stymied Pakistan and Islamic world's attempts at development from their religious bigotry and hatred. Now, after the 9-11 falseflag people have seen an IRREFUTABLE proof of it and this is the reason for the mood swing. For example, US is trying to weaken Pakistan's bargaining position regarding India on the Waters by 9-11 falseflag during which India built the DAMS while USA distracted us to the Western Borders. Next, USA is trying to create friction between Pakistan and China by the Xinjiang thing and also USA helped China more than she helped Pakistan in investment. Pakistan has recognized what the Iranians recognized already before 1979.

Never forget 1971. And check this out for yourself independently. India, after the surrender of Pakistan Army in East Pakistan, gave orders to its forces to move to the western border. The instructions were simple but brutal, " To destroy Pakistan Army for good." They probably would never have gotten a better chance. It was the movement of the American Seventh Fleet towards the Indian Ocean, and specific threat by Nixon to Russia to immediately stop any further Indian ventures, that stopped the catastrophe. We should read history before having epileptic fits against the USA. I am sure that USA, like any other country, had its own interests at stake. It was fortunate that it considered survival of remaining Pakistan as its prime interest.

@Tina according to International relations, no country is enemy or friend of another country. China may be investing a lot in Pakistan, so does the US. We consider US our enemy and China as friend, however, no one can safely say what lies ahead. India and China are already bridging ties with one another. In case the World War III (for example) then no one can safely say who's on whos side. you can learn it from World War I and World War II. All I can say is money matters, if China is investing in Pakistan then its not for Pakistan rather than for its own benefits. 68 years have passed we are still seeking help from China and US to discover our resources as we are too lazy (not up to the standard) to do so.

@Haroon "How can the US be the greatest threat and ally for Indonesians at the same time?" Approximately half of the Indonesians would have classified US as a friend due to trade and beneficial business relationship between the two nations. The other half is probably the faith-addled half who perceive USA as the enemy of their faith. Hence the logical dichotomy. But the fact that 80% of Pakistanis regard China in a positive light, while only 30% of Chinese hold Pak positively, says a lot of things.

Honestly despite of our past I would always be comfortable being a friend of Pakistan than any other country, come on where will i get the same food, language, culture etc.... So I request all fellow Indian and Pakistani's friends to start being more favorable to each other, imagine you being stuck in a distant planet, who will you talk to first or eat same kind of food? Just remove all hatred and have a fresh perspective being more realistic, don't be a pawn for these so called Super Powers.........

@mubashar There is a direct PIA flight from Lahore to NY, phone them up I am sure they will be happy to help you. Also remember that you have to solve your own problems, nobody will come to your help, not even your best friend China.

@ProudtobeanINDIAN But on another pie-chart towards the bottom, Bangladesh puts India almost on par with Japan in their favourable views! Bit odd and conflicting with Bangladeshis

I have noticed many people saying that '' Why US is considered as an enemy ? where as US has supported Pakistan on many fronts and provided multifold aids at the time of need. But all these readers do not take into account, The real damage that Pakistan has to face being Ally of US is three time more than what we reap. Also i simply do not understand why we Pakistanis like china so much ( I dont like them that much) , Considering they have a bigger trade and bilateral relation with India and all we get is ''LIP SERVICE''.

@rashid siddiqui What you said did happen. Nixon and Kissinger 'fell in love' with Ayub Khan around the time 1971 war took place. (I am not 100% sure about the name of Pakistani general I mentioned here). America felt this Pakistani general was their only known gateway to China. This is also the reason why Kissinger did not let Indira Gandhi to have an audience with Nixon about Bangladeshi refugee influx.

Report shows that national interests are preferred over emotions and so called friendships except Pakistan which prefers emotions and friendships over national interests. When a true leadership will emerge in Pakistan, Allah knows.
