LAHORE: Jamaat-i-Islami emir Sirajul Haq will announce a 'people's agenda' along with the launch of a mass-contact campaign in Islamabad on Aug 4.

This was stated by JI Secretary-General Liaquat Baloch here on Thursday.

He said the event would mark the beginning of the party's struggle against the 'corrupt' ruling elite.

He claimed that the one-year rule of the PML-N government was an irrefutable proof of the 'incompetence' of the rulers.

"The government proved a total failure both on the foreign and home front."

He said in view of the allegations of massive rigging in the 2013 elections, there was a serious threat to the democratic set-up and added that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would have to find a way out for the sake of the continuation of democracy.

He also referred to the deplorable plight of the IDPs who were awaiting return to their homes.

Mr Baloch has proceeded on a three-day tour of Sindh to mobilise people by speaking at gatherings at Hyderabad, Nawab Shah, Badin, and Mirpur Khas. He will be accompanied by Dr Merajul Huda and Mumtaz Husain Sehtoo.
