RAWALPINDI: Secretary Education Punjab (schools) has decided to give hearing to the schoolteachers’ opposing the relocation policy.

Through a letter on Wednesday, Secretary, Education, Jabbar Shaheen directed the executive district officer (Education), Qazi Zahoor-ul-Haq to arrange his meeting with the representatives of the schoolteachers on August 11.

“After receiving the letter from the secretary, I have invited the teachers representatives to the secretary office in Lahore on August 11. I hope the matter will be resolved amicably,” said EDO Qazi Zahoor-ul-Haq while talking to Dawn.

Last week, the Lahore High Court, Rawalpindi Bench had temporarily suspended orders passed by the education department for transferring schoolteachers under the policy.

After suspending the relocation policy, the court had directed the secretary school to look into the matter and submit a compliance report within two weeks.

Through their counsel, teachers had apprised the court that under relocation policy, their department transferred around 500 teachers to far flung area, which is against the spirit of the policy.

They further claimed that under policy, the EDO office has transferred dozens of elementary schoolteachers to primary schools.
