Wozniacki moves up WTA chart

PARIS: Caroline Wozniacki, who opened her 2014 account with victory in Istanbul, climbed two places to 13 in the latest WTA rankings published on Monday.

The former world number one has now won a WTA title every year for the last seven years, winning her first three in 2008, three more in 2009, six in 2010, six in 2011, two in 2012, one in 2013 and now one in 2014.

Wozniacki’s 6-1, 6-1 win over Italian Roberta Vinci on Sunday came on the same day as her former fianci, Northern Irish golfer Rory McIlroy, triumphed at the British Open.
