LANDI KOTAL: The Khyber Agency political administration on Friday distributed cash prizes of Rs477,000 among top ten position holders in the recently held matriculation examinations.

A function to honour the successful students was held at Jirga Hall in Jamrud which was attended by secretary social

welfare, Fata secretariat, Abid Majeed, Peshawar BISE chairman Dr Shafi Afridi, Khyber Agency political agent Shahab Ali Shah, officials of education department, parents of the successful students and local elders.

On the occasion, Rs30,000 each were awarded to students securing first, second and third positions in Khyber Agency, while the remaining students were also awarded Rs20,000, Rs18,000, Rs17,000 and Rs16,000, respectively.

Shahab Ali Shah said on the occasion that his administration would pay for two years the college fee of Ms Shakeela, who secured second position in Peshawar education board and first in Khyber Agency.

Hussain Gul, father of Shakeela from the restive Bara tehsil, had earlier stated that his daughter was unable to continue her education due to financial constraints.

The political agent also awarded umra ticket to headmaster of Jamrud Hasimabad high school for showing good result in matriculation examination.

Speaking on the occasion, secretary social welfare, Fata, Abid Majeed said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governor had taken serious notice of teachers abstaining from their duties and had instructed Fata secretariat to take disciplinary action against them.
